The SENESCENCE Tour Begins: BAYNK’s Boston Show Was Everything I Needed

As the founder of Music You’re Missing, my life revolves around live music. But recently, I found myself in a bit of a rut. I had taken on an out-of-state gig activating a new music venue, and in the whirlwind of work, my connection to the Boston music scene started slipping. The hour-plus trek back to the city made even the sickest invitations to shows feel like a hassle—especially when deadlines loomed.

Then, something snapped me out of the monotony. Or rather, someone did.

While prepping for my latest booked event (The Glitter Boys in Portsmouth, NH, which, by the way, was a massive sellout success), I threw together a playlist to help management get a feel for their vibe. Enter Spotify’s algorithm. One of the recommended tracks was Grin by BAYNK—a stunning gateway into his catalog. Within moments, I was hooked, diving headfirst into his work and feeling that spark reignite.

Grin is the perfect lead single for BAYNK’s sophomore album SENESCENCE; it’s polished, upbeat, and pop-forward in a way that immediately draws you in. Feel hits that same sweet spot. But BAYNK isn’t just about catchy melodies—the album is a bold fusion of pop, deep house, contemporary club, funk, and ambient soundscapes. The production is perfectly imperfect, and what truly sets SENESCENCE apart is its lyricism. Too often in electronic music, songwriting takes a backseat to the beats. I won’t name names, but one of my favorite electronic acts recently dropped an album that felt like a complete flop—a generic cut-and-paste with no emotional depth. BAYNK, on the other hand, delivers both sonically and lyrically, proving that electronic music can have just as much substance as it does style.

Naturally, I had to see this all come to life.

BAYNK kicked off his SENESCENCE World Tour at Royale in Boston, bringing along Bad Tuner (whose track Caught Up cracked my Spotify Wrapped this year, so you know I was hyped). From start to finish, the night was flawless. The production? On point. The live vocals? Crisp. The energy? Infectious. BAYNK and his full band crafted a feel-good, immersive experience—not always an easy feat for an electronic act, let alone on a Wednesday night. And strangely enough, I was really into the crowd. It was one of the most eclectic audiences I’ve seen in a while—college students, 50-somethings, and 30-year-old couples aggressively making out next to me for the entire set. BAYNK’s fanbase was diverse, enthusiastic, and fully immersed in the music, each in their own way—some vibing, some partying, some socializing, and others completely lost in each other (PDA makes me jealous).

Discovering BAYNK has been more than just finding a new favorite artist—it’s been a reminder of why I fell in love with music in the first place. That electrifying high of stumbling upon an artist who creates exactly what you need to hear. His music hits every mood: the gym grind, deep focus, a dance break, or just vibing in the background. More importantly, he reawakened my passion for discovering talent, for diving back into the scene I had unintentionally drifted from.

So, yeah, I’ll be at his next Boston show. And I can’t wait to see what his festival set looks like.

Until then, I’ve added my favorite BAYNK tracks to the Music You’re Missing Spotify playlist. You know where to find them.
